Best practices for a successful launch
Over the course of working with multiple communities to help them launch their networking programs, we’ve discovered some best practices that help in maximising interest from the community members.
Make a big, splashy announcement
Getting the opportunity to be introduced to likeminded members, is a huge opportunity for your members. So treat it like a big launch out of it and announce it to your members.
Example:
Hey everyone, I’m excited to announce a new program to give what a lot of you have been asking me for - meeting more community members who you can learn from.
Presenting, Speed Networking with Generalists! Here we will introduce you to 1 other member that we think you’ll vibe with.
Here’s how it works:
- Sign up here and fill out the form.
- We’ll then do all the hard work for you and find you a suitable match
- Then, we’ll introduce you over email and on Slack, then leave you to continue the conversation.
First round of matches will go out on January 9th. So be sure to sign up before then.
Announce it in your community in advance
One of our customers created a lot of excitement in their community when they pre-announced the date when first matches will be sent.
So, let’s say you want people to receive the first round of matches on Feb 2nd. You should announce it to your community atleast one week in advance (Jan 26th).
Send it to members over email
Make no mistake, this type of a networking program is not just for the active members of your community. It is also a great way to provide value to your lurkers and reel them in your community.
So, be sure to announce it in both your community and send members an email about it.
Make it a part of the new member onboarding
Don’t forget the future members of your community. Invite them to join the program by sharing a link to your sign up page in the new member onboarding sequence.
Send it to interested members personally
Our most successful customers, personally hand pick the members who have historically shown interest in networking or networking related activities and send them a personal DM inviting them to join their Curated Connections program.
List it on the features portion of your landing page
Finally, a tip to help you signal the increased value of your community and increase your conversion rates. Make sure that you write about your awesome new program on the landing page of your community.
Being able to meet get personalised 1-on-1 introductions can be a HUGE value add for your community membership.
